As a child, my mother made most of our clothes for my sisters and I, and she favoured little dresses such as these charming little dresses from Bread and Jam and when I saw them, they instantly took me back to my childhood, they are beautifully vintage.
They have three Collections, the Runaway Collection, Pick-a-Pocket Collection and finally Lola-Like-Dress for girls aged between 2 years - 10 years. This little dress is called Sunny Bunny and it’s from the Pick-a-Pocket Collection.
Bread and Jam have also have teamed up with bestselling author and illustrator Lauren Child, creator of much loved books including Charlie and Lola, Clarice Bean and Ruby Redfort to create a super-limited run of exclusive ‘LOLA-LIKE’ dress, modelled by the cute little girl below.
The Lola-Like dress is a cute A-line dress with Peter Pan collar, little sleeves, and two cute pockets. Reminiscent of childhood days it’s the sort of thing that Lola might choose to wear. And in true Bread and Jam style, it’s for every day, not for best.
What I love most about them, aside from the glorious colours and fabrics, is that they are so unpretentious, they are designed for everyday use so little girls can get on with playing and not worrying about getting dirty or damaging their dresses.
They are also very versatile; in the summer a child would wear them bear armed and in spring with a long-sleeved top and when the air turns chilly accessorise with tights and boots and a cosy polo neck, and where the dress over jeans.
I love bread and jam…
